A Conflict Resolution Program for
1st Grade and Beyond! This program has been in existence for countless years, and has always been loved by teachers, students and parents. During these lessons, students learn strategies for solving small conflicts in a peaceful way. As part of this program, students are asked to do one kind thing each day and are taught a Peace Club Cheer—“Peace Begins With Me!” Some of the conflict resolution strategies that the children are taught include: Walk Away Ignore Say please stop Talk it out Share and take turns Apologize Forgive Stick with friends Go to another game Make a deal Wait and cool off Shake it off In order to make the lessons more fun for the students, we present these strategies in the concept of a club. For each strategy we have a “secret signal.” These signals are used for two reasons: 1. They are fun! and 2. The students can use the signals to remind each other to use the Peace Club Strategies. I encourage parents to talk with their children about the Peace Club, and to try to learn the strategies themselves. As the children are beginning to resolve disagreements on their own, they will need support from the adults in their lives. If you have any questions about the Peace Club lessons, please feel free to call me at (919)773-9557 or email me at [email protected]. Peace-Club-Powerpoint.ppt peace-club-reminder-card.pub |
